It's not just a bag
The fabric that makes up the bags is crafted from a huipil*, while the body's structure is cut and assembled by hand by our skilled artisans.
Estela travels from village to village, seeking out huipiles from different communities that are no longer in use but are still in perfect condition. This way, she gives a second life to these pieces of art.
In the workshop, bags are designed based on patterns, huipil sizes, and customer requests. Any surplus material is used to create smaller products, such as wallets and accessories - nothing goes to waste!
Once the bags are ready, a thorough quality check ensures everything is perfect before shipping to Denmark.
*Huipiles are traditional blouses worn by women since pre-Hispanic times. The name 'huipil' is derived from the Nahuatl dialect, meaning 'mi tapado' (my covering). Huipiles are handwoven in a backstrap loom by their owners and are powered with symbolism and self-representation.
